17. Julio 2008 por admin.
In order to complete the today morning post I would like to include this news read in TechCrunch. An american company called Channel Intelligence accused other startups companies and individuals for offer wish lists for products other may want others to buy for them. Channel Intelligence claims that all these companies infringe its patent Nº 6917941 tha covers the invention of creating a list of things in a database. One
interesting thing: among these companies don´t
appear Amazon or eBay.

We all know that sometimes these recomendation are far for being interesting for us. This is because the recomendation engine, wich is the background mechanism in charge of providing them.
Last week Technology Review published an interesting article about Digg´s recommendation system. Digg is a social information network in which each member submit his favourite stories and give the chance to others members to “dig” them. The most popular contents are displayed in the Digg´s front page.

Open Source and the Framework Programme
30. Junio 2008 por admin.
AS you probably know, the Framework Programme is the EU’s main RTD funding programme.

Recently I have been involved in a initiative which tries to spread the open source applications among the Andalusian tourism SMEs (I´ll write a post about this project soon), so it has been a good surprise to me when I found two european research projects under the 6th Framework Programme: FLOSSMETRICS and OPENTTT . In their web sites you´ll find all the information related with the projects: objective, scope, workpackages, deliverables, partners, etc. Among all this interesting information you can find two guides : Guide for SMEs ( set guidelines and suggestions for the adoption of open source software within SMEs) and Floss catalog ( a catalog of 165 applications chosed in order to fulfill all the SMEs requirements).
Of course I know there are a lot of other initiatives with the same purpose, but these two are financed by the EC and I think this is very important to boost the use of open source apps by SMEs.

30. Junio 2008 por admin.
As the title states “Welcome to everybody”. This is my small web space where I´m going to post some interesting (at least I hope so) things. My posts are related with those issues I am interesting in : business trends, innovation policies, market trends. I am always looking for news and stories that show and teach the best practices in this areas. However I am not just to paste links, rather I want to give my point of view about these facts. Of course I would like that you express also your opinions so that we can learn from our experiences and expertises. You can visit my personal web site www.danieliglesias.es (in spanish).
